Un petit historique
En 2006 pour mes 14 ans, j'ai eu une guitare Squier Strat avec deux micros simple bobinage et un micro double bobinage. Après quelques temps à jouer sur le canal saturé de l'ampli associé, j'en
ai eu plein les oreilles du son brouillé du humbucker. J'ai changé pour un Seymour Duncan SH-6 Distorsion.
Let's go back a bit
For my 14th birthday in 2008, I got a Squier Strat guitar equipped with 2 singlecoil pickups and a humbucker pickup. I quickly got tired of the cheap sound of this humbucker on the drive canal of the small amp I had with the guitar. I changed for a Seymour Duncan SH-6 Distorsion pickup.
Ensuite, il est paru évident que les deux autres micros n'étaient plus à la hauteur. Ayant peu avant changé mon petit 15W transistor pour un combo Blackheart 5W à lampes, j'ai investi dans deux micros doubles au format simple bobinage, toujours chez Seymour Duncan. J'ai opté pour le Jeff Beck Jr. et le Little '59, qui ont un son assez rond et chaud pour compenser avec l'acidité du SH-6 déjà en place. Ça a aussi été l'occasion de remplacer le switch et les potentiomètres pour des composants de meilleure qualité - achetés auprès du luthier local, l'Atelier des guitares à Saint-Etienne.
La guitare elle même a subi un démontage complet et une customisation qui fait encore son petit effet !
It became obvious a little while after that first change, that the other pickups were no match compared to the new one. I had already changed my 15W solid-state amp for a 5W Blackheart tube amp, and decided to upgrade for two single-size humbuckers to replace the single coils I had. I chose one Jeff Beck Jr. and one Little '59 by Seymour Duncan, with warm sound to balance with the dry Sh-6. It also was the occasion to change the switch and the pots for better ones - purchased at the local guitar workshop in Saint-Etienne, L'atelier des guitares.
The guitar itself was also put totally apart and was customized in a way that people still look at it in amazement !
